The Meaning of Demeter

Demeter is a character in ancient Greek Mythology and was considered to be a minor goddess over agriculture. When her daughter was kidnapped by Hades and held in the underworld, Demeter became so distraught, she did not eat or drink, and since she was responsible for minding after the earth's vegetation, it ceased to grow. She was tired, hungry and thirsty as she roamed the earth with her torch, looking for her daughter Persephone, until finally the child was found and returned to Demeter, except for four months out of the year, when the child retreats back to the underworld, at which time no growth takes place on earth, and represents the dormant season called winter. The point here is not to badly retell a Greek myth, but to provide an inspiration for me to begin to tell my story. My hope is that someday soon, if you haven't already, you will be able to fully communicate what has happened in your life, about the loss of custody, or reduced custody of your children, as if describing a day at the beach. Not to minimize the damage done to your life, but calmly and succintly, be able to describe the events, will add great healing value to your life.
